New Economics for Women (NEW)

Proposed Budget: $500,000

Our mission is to create housing and financial stability for 500 individuals and families at risk of homelessness. NEW provides one-on-one intervention that includes affordable housing placement, legal services, financial resources, and other immediate needs. NEW aims to reduce the jarring homelessness rate in the region by securing housing and long-term financial stability and success for individuals and families. Through their individualized case management support, low-income residents can gain the tools for upward economic mobility, including living-wage jobs, wealth creation, and a reduction in dependence on social systems.

Communities In Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA)

Proposed Budget: $409,220

CISLA plans to strengthen a pathway of support from middle school to college or career at John Liechty Middle School and Belmont High School. Their goal is to connect CISLA’s nationally proven in-school model with out-of-school activities that engage, empower, and uplift Westlake youth. They will provide integrated student support through in-school and after-school activities; summer programming for students transitioning into high school; and alumni engagement for recent graduates. This comprehensive, community-tailored youth programming from tutoring to enriching field trips builds core school relationships and supports students’ investment in their lifelong education and career success.
