Watts Empowerment Center
Proposed Budget: $363,000
The Watts Empowerment Center (WEC) will expand their successful after-school programming for the 488 family units served by WEC. The “Build HOPE Project!” programming goals include unforgettable enrichment opportunities, hands-on experiences, and memorable field trips (meals and staffing included). Funding would also make transportation possible to educational/recreational outlets. Further plans range from resurfacing the floor in the Basketball Gym, and purchasing equipment for the Weight Room, STEM Lab, Recording Studio, and new Outdoor Playground.
Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU)
Proposed Budget: $1,500,000
Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) in partnership with Kedren Health will provide free mobile street medicine services that are accessible, affordable, and culturally responsive to medically underserved and under-resourced individuals and families. Services include culturally responsive primary healthcare services, preventative care, behavioral health, mental health, HIV/STI prevention, and case management services. The CDU Kedren Mobile Street Medicine Program plans to serve up to 10,000 community residents over a 12-month time period.
