South LA Community Foundation

Proposed Budget: $499,760

The program aims to train, empower, and advance up to 56 young adults (ages 18-24) who face barriers to employment. These young individuals are employed within a supportive workforce ecosystem, where they receive a living wage, professional training, structured development opportunities, and opportunities to give back to their community. This initiative promotes opportunities for South LA youth, increases community access to healthy food, and helps preserve the local culture.

Girls Club of Los Angeles

Proposed Budget: $450,000

Our Holistic Health & Wellness Program brings easy-to-use and much-needed mental health resources to 450 low-income, underserved, and disadvantaged residents. Participants engage in activities such as health education, mental wellness, case management, health screenings (for diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, etc.), stress management, mindfulness, and referrals to improve health equity and social justice. Services will be provided in-person and using a mobile van, and informed by the community on the best practices to serve individuals.

Social Justice Learning Institute

Proposed Budget: $343,462

Description: Stronger Together! is an academic and career pathway project in direct response to the pressing need for youth to attain progress toward achieving educational, career, and economic growth. The primary goal of the program is to develop a strong cadre of youth who will progress through a series of academic counseling, leadership development, life skills building, workforce readiness development, and mentorship leading toward educational attainment and greater economic opportunity. Stronger Together! combines SJLI’s Urban Scholars Program that serves high school students and our College Access, Persistence, and Workforce Development activities for alumni ages 18-24.

LA Urban League

Proposed Budget: $250,000

A comprehensive workforce training program that will provide training, job placement services, supportive services, and referrals to 250 job seekers. Participants will undergo a rigorous training curriculum covering various aspects of media and production, including video editing, sound design, scriptwriting, and project management. Industry professionals will lead workshops, providing valuable insights and real-world perspectives. Participants will receive mentorship from experienced professionals in the industry that will provide ongoing support, advice, and networking opportunities.
